Kräftig Cocktails: Bloody Mary Lager

Even though we’ve never been advocates of mixing beer with anything else, there are ways to have your cocktail and drink your Kräftig, too. Think about it like this – you’re an aspiring painter during the Renaissance and your mentor, Leonardo da Vinci, sticks his paintbrush in your beer. Obviously, paint doesn’t go with your local brew, but it’s da Vinci. Maybe the guy’s onto something here?

Oh, and please don’t drink the beer paint.

That said, Brewmaster Marc Gottfried enjoys a Bloody Mary every now and then. After much thought, he realized it could use the ol’ Kräftig touch. Beer damn near makes everything better, right? Right. Read his recipe for the Bloody Mary Lager. You won’t want to go back to regular Bloody Marys after this:

Bloody Mary Lager

In a tall glass, 20 oz. or bigger (we ain’t playin’), half filled with ice, add and stir:

  • 1 oz. Judgement Tree Vodka (from Defiance, MO)
  • 6 oz. Kräftig Lager
  • 8 oz. Clamato (if you’re not into the clam thing, you can use Bloody Mary mix – Zing Zang brand or your preference – but back off on the spices because some are already in there!)
  • Dash of coarse ground black pepper
  • Dash of A1 Sauce
  • Dash of celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp. of horseradish (just use a little splotch, you don’t really have to measure)

Garnish with a celery stalk, green olives, and a beef stick. Now you have a drink to cure your hangover and put a little more hair on your chest.

Now, we’re not saying that the Renaissance of beer is upon us. Just take it straight from Kräftig’s in-house Leonardo da Vinci. Try something new, with a touch of that essential Kräftig beer taste.
