The Awards Continue to Foam Over for Kräftig Light

ST. LOUIS – As summer rolls on, so do the accolades for the William K Busch Brewing Company’s Krӓftig light brand. German purity-brewed, American made Krӓftig light took home the “American Light Lager” gold medal for the second consecutive year in the United States Open Beer Championship, held in Atlanta, GA.

This was a truly global test for the St. Louis company’s brands. More than 20 international brewing companies entered more than 2,500 beers in the competition. Judges hailed from England, Canada and the United States.

“I can’t emphasize enough how much it means to win back-to-back gold,” commented Marc Gottfried, head brewmaster. “The vision and leadership of our founder, Billy Busch, is taking Krӓftig to exciting new places.”

Kräftig light’s winning flavor is the result of a brewing process following the German Beer Purity Law of Reinheitsgebot (RHINE-heights-geh-boat), Reinheitsgebot requires only four ingredients be used when brewing beer – water, barley-malt, yeast and hops.

In addition to consecutive gold medals the past two years at the U.S. Open Championship, Krӓftig light won the gold medal in the 2013 North American Beer Awards (NABA) in May.

Gold Medal Goes to New Krӓftig Light Beer

ST. LOUIS – June 6, 2013 – The North American Beer Awards (NABA), held last weekend in Idaho Falls, ID, is this continent’s most prestigious beer judging competition. In the American-style light beer category – representing the largest brands in the industry – first place was awarded to Krӓftig light, brewed by St. Louis-based William K Busch Brewing Company. Brewed for pure flavor under the German Beer Purity Law, or Reinheitsgebot, Krӓftig light bested second place Michelob Ultra and third place Budweiser Select. The biggest brands, Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors Light, did not place.

“Kräftig lager and Kräftig light were created as a testament to St. Louis’ respect for the way Germans brew their beer,” said William (Billy) Busch. “We are truly honored by the North American Beer Association’s decision to award Krӓftig light with gold in this highly competitive category.”

Judges at the annual NABA sanctioned beer awards include brew masters from major national breweries as well as experts from small, independent breweries. Also judging are beer journalists and certified judges. Evaluation and judging of beers are conducted in sessions which lead to the award of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Since 1997, hundreds of competitors have participated.
Judging is performed in a blind format competition with beers poured in a separate room and provided to the judges in style flights. Judging in teams of four, minimum, the judges rank order the top three beers and in some instances award honorable mentions.

Kräftig light is the only premium, domestic light beer brewed in accordance with Reinheitsgebot (RHINE-heights-geh-boat), the German Beer Purity Law that requires only four ingredients be used in the brewing process – water, barley-malt, yeast and hops.

“The pure flavor and crisp finish of Kräftig lager and Kräftig light can only be accomplished through Reinheitsgebot. This award from the NABA, along with other recent accolades, is proof that Reinheitsgebot produces pure flavor,” commented Marc Gottfried, head brew master.

In addition to gold at the NABA, Kräftig lager was awarded 96 points out of 100 possible by Draft Magazine in its Draft Review section – the highest rating in the 2013 April issue. Kräftig lager also received both the silver medal for “Best of Show” and gold medal for “International Lager”, while Kräftig light earned the top honor awarded in the “American Light Lager” category during the 4th Annual Denver International Beer Competition, held April 13-14, 2013.

During the company’s first year in production, Kräftig lager and Kräftig light also received three prestigious industry awards – a Gold Medal in the “American Light” category at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, a People’s Choice Award at the Missouri Brewfest and a Bronze Medal in the “American Lager” category at the Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition.

New Accolades for William K Busch Brewing Company’s Kräftig

ST. LOUIS – May 1, 2013 –The William K Busch Brewing Company continues to stack up awards with its German purity-brewed, American-made brands, Kräftig lager and Kräftig light.

Kräftig lager was awarded 96 points out of 100 possible by Draft Magazine in its Draft Review section – the highest rating in the April issue – but the praise didn’t stop there. During the 4th Annual Denver International Beer Competition, held April 13-14, Kräftig lager received both the silver medal for “Best of Show” and gold medal for “International Lager”, while Kräftig light earned the top honor awarded in the “American Light Lager” category.

Draft Magazine described Kräftig lager in terms that, well, make you thirsty: “Delicate, sweet bready grains reach from this beer’s creamy head up to the nose … Punctuated by an extremely snappy, balanced finish, Kräftig is a shining example of the style from sip to swallow.”

What sets Kräftig lager and Kräftig light apart from other brands is Reinheitsgebot (RHINE-heights-geh-boat), the German Beer Purity Law that requires only four ingredients be used when brewing beer – water, barley-malt, yeast and hops. It’s the way that William K Busch Brewing Company brews its beers to ensure pure flavor.

Kräftig Light Launches New Ad Campaign Focusing on German Brewing Process, Reinheitsgebot

Campaign Uses a Comedic Approach and Marks William K Busch Brewing Company’s First Endeavor in the Television Advertising Space

ST. LOUIS – April 2, 2013 – St. Louis residents can attest to the fact that you don’t have to speak German to enjoy German beer. This simple idea led to the creation of a newly integrated advertising campaign for the William K Busch Brewing Company launching in St. Louis this week. The campaign features the company’s Kräftig Light brand and includes updates to the Kräftig.com website, new billboards, radio and the company’s first television commercials.

The off-beat humor of the “purity brewed campaign” is targeted at the light beer drinking consumer and celebrates the brand’s authentic German roots with a distinct, new American attitude. The bold, fresh product imagery in the ads was shot in a hyper clean, white environment to reinforce the backbone of the brand message of “purity brewed American beer”.

“Kräftig Lager and Kräftig Light were created as a testament to St. Louis’ respect for the way Germans brew their beer,” said William K. Busch, president and chief executive officer. “Giving a nod to my German heritage, our products were given a German name and are brewed under the well-respected German beer purity law, Reinheitsgebot.”

William K Busch Brewing Company Celebrates Strong First Year

Company’s Kräftig Lager and Kräftig Light Uniquely Brewed Under German Purity Law, Reinheitsgebot

ST. LOUIS - Nov. 14, 2012 – William K Busch Brewing Company celebrates its first anniversary this month with strong momentum as its Kräftig Light brand becomes the fastest growing premium light beer in the market, and company growth is estimated to have achieved one percent of the St. Louis market in just 12 months.

“My goal one year ago was to start a company that would keep the Busch family brewing legacy alive in St. Louis,” said William K. Busch, president and chief executive officer. “My family worked hard for 150 years to build and grow in this community and I couldn’t imagine it any other way.”

What sets Kräftig Lager and Kräftig Light apart from other brands in the industry is Reinheitsgebot (RHINE-heights-geh-boat), the German Beer Purity Law that is a tradition older than America. Created 500 years ago, Reinheitsgebot is the oldest consumer protection law in the world. Reinheitsgebot requires that only four ingredients be used when brewing beer – water, barley, yeast and hops, and it’s the way that William K Busch Brewing Company brews its beers to ensure pure flavor.

The Reinheitsgebot Purity Law is why Kräftig Lager and Kräftig Light have already won three prestigious industry awards in their first year – a Gold Medal in the American Light Category at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, a People’s Choice Award at the Missouri Brewfest, and a Bronze Medal in American Lager Category at the Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition.

While America’s best athletes compete for the top spot on the winner’s podium, one of America’s best beers just snagged a gold medal of its own. More than 1,650 beers in 65 different categories entered the recent United States Open Beer Championship, including beers from over 20 international breweries. When the dust settled and the judging was complete, Kräftig Light took home the gold medal in the competitive American Light category. It’s another big win at yet another major competition for St. Louis’ own William K Busch Brewing Company.
